2023 UN Human Rights Committee Review of United States in Geneva

In October 2023 members of our coalition, including those of us who formerly served death by incarceration, those of us with loved ones currently serving death by incarceration, and other advocates, traveled to Geneva Switzerland to submit testimony before the United Nations Human Rights Committee about the impact of the United States' use of death by incarceration sentences. We also submitted a shadow report titled “Death By Incarceration is Torture: The Cruelty of Life Sentences in the US” to the Committee to contribute to its upcoming review of the United States and the country’s compliance with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
